June 2006 – NAWM To Host Town Meeting for Upcoming “Working Mothers Summit” – NAWM will bring this idea to the people it will help the most – Working Moms, and invite them to attend a session where they can state their concerns, and what they would like to see as part of this Summit

May – June 2006 – NAWM  Petitions the Montgomery County Courthouse in Maryland for the Safety of those Persons Reporting AbuseIt has been requested that while persons who are seeking intake services, and relief from the abused persons office, that their privacy be protected, by closing the metal partition, however this request has been repeatedly denied.  NAWM is concerned about the safety of those looking for relief and protection.  It is difficult enough for these individuals to come forward, to yet have to endure the humiliation of sitting in plain view of everyone who walks past that office every day.   The courthouse is naturally a very busy place.   Please sign this petition in support of those women seeking help and in providing them with a safe haven.

February 2006 – NAWM Begins Planning for it’s First Working Mothers Summit

November 2005 – NAWM Files Petitions with the Montgomery County Courthouse Abused Victims Program  -- NAWM’s President has spoken with the leadership and courthouse officials regarding the intake office where abused persons can report abusers and seek protection.  NAWM has requested that their privacy be protected, by closing the metal partition while performing intake.  Presently these persons, primarily women and children, are exposed during a very vulnerable time, to any and everyone who walks by the office.  NAWM’s is presently seeking 5,000 petition signatures.

January 2004 – NAWM Makes Plans for a Makeover Series – Destination: You! - A makeover program to assist women in disposing of the excess baggage that stifles and stunts their growth.  The mission of Destination: You!, is to help develop programming to demonstrate to Working Moms, that they can acquire and embrace those skills that will develop them as a whole individual.  NAWM is formulating a team of medical, fitness and esthetics professionals to work through a life-changing transformation, with selected Working Mothers in the Metropolitan area.   At the end of those 12 weeks, these newly transformed moms will debut in an Oscar winning ceremony, with all the glamour and glitz of the red carpet!

September 2003 – President of NAWM Invited to Attend Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues - in cooperation with Senators Olympia Snowe and Barbara A. Mikulski and Representatives Shelley Moore Capito and Louise Slaughter.  A Capitol Hill Series on Women’s Health Policy: “Women, Work, and Family Health: A Balancing Act” Wednesday, October 8, at the Cannon House Office Building (Cannon Caucus Room). NAWM shares with congressional leadership, issues on daycare quality, affordability and flexibility.

September 2003 – Afternoon Tea & “Time Out” For Working Mothers Only! - Working Mothers from the community were invited to relax and absorb insightful information, on raising a family and finding time for the Working Mother.  Guest speakers were Drs. Andrea & Abigail Pennington.

June 2003 - National Women’s Political Caucus – The president of NAWM is invited to speak on the topic of Today’s Working Mother.

June 2003 - NAWM Receives Non-Profit Status - NAWM is acknowledged by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under the 501c3 guidelines.

January 2003 - NBC4 2003 Health and Fitness Expo - NAWM is invited to participate in the Health expo and signs up over 300 interested Working Mothers.

November 2002 - Former Maryland Congresswoman Connie Morella - Forwards a letter on behalf of NAWM, to assist the organization in expediting its tax exempt/non-profit status, with the IRS.

October 2002 - Former Congresswoman Connie Morella (Congresswoman and Mother of NINE CHILDREN!)  - Invites the President of the National Association of Working Mothers to do a television commercial for her congressional campaign.

October 2002 - Former Congresswoman Connie Morella  - Invites the President of the National Association of Working Mothers to attend and speak at press conference.

April 2002  - Working Mother Focus Group  - Leadership from the Metropolitan area, were invited to this forum, to work with NAWM on focusing its direction.  This event was facilitated by renowned psychologist, Dr. Carol Stovall, who led a very lively discussion on several Working Mothers issues.  From this meeting, we gathered significant ideas on how our organization can most comprehensively and effectively initiate NAWM and it’s mission.   We also invited World Trade Center survivor Genelle Guzman, the last of only five people to be pulled from tower one, alive, and mother of one child, to speak to and inspire this group of women.  This was an event that no one will soon forget, as we all came closer to what invokes us as women and Working Mothers.
